A sarcophagus excavated from the No. 15 Ishifunezuka mound, among the Mochida burial mounds

This is the only sarcophagus that is a constituent cultural property made of Aso welded tuff excavated from the Ishifunezuka (burial mound No. 15) of the Mochida burial mounds, which is part of the Japan Heritage Story. The size of the coffin, the traces of tools (in iron), and the state of the interior of the construction can be observed up close, making it a valuable resource.
