Mesahozuka Burial Mound is an imperial mausoleum reference site, and is a significant component of Saitobaru Burial Mounds. It boasts the largest keyhole-shaped mounded tomb with a round rear portion (mound length: 176.3m) in the Kyushu region, reflecting the eminence of the Saitobaru Burial Mounds in the Middle Kofun period (5th century).
