Hasugaike Cave Tomb Cluster
Nationally Designated
One of the sites that forms the kofun landscape around the core mounds of the story, Saitobaru Burial Mounds. The corridor-style burial mound with a horizontal lateral entrance (a family tomb) is a grave that is unique to Japan, as much so as keyhole-shaped mounded tombs. Some 80 mounded tombs were dug on the mountain slope between the Late Kofun period and the final stage of the Kofun period (6th-7th century).
