Haniwa from the No.58 mound (Mukadezuka Burial Mound) of Nyutabaru Burial Mounds

A unearthed object that eminently reflects the character of the Nyutabaru Burial Mounds, in line with the story. With all these human, animal, house, and drum shaped haniwas (ceramic clay figures) placed on the surfaces of the mounds, these mounds boast perhaps the best collection of haniwas in terms of quantity and quality of all such sites in Western Japan. These haniwas mark the extent of South Kyushu kofun culture that flourished in relation with the royal Kinai power.
